Care & Maintenance of Your Commercial Cabanas

When making the decision to add commercial cabanas to your list of amenities, the question of maintenance often gets asked.  After all, extensive maintenance would add to the overall cost.  Luckily, care for our top-quality commercial cabanas is simple and maintenance is minimal.

Monthly Care

The easiest way to ensure your commercial cabanas always look good and to extend the time between cleanings is to hose the fabric down with cool or lukewarm clean water on a monthly basis.  This helps to remove any dirt and debris that would eventually lead to a need for a deeper clean.  It’s as simple as that.

Light Cleaning

When cleaning your commercial cabanas, it’s often easiest to leave the fabric on the frame.  A light cleaning is necessary when dirt and debris is collecting on the fabric and won’t rinse off with normal monthly maintenance.

For a light cleaning, Sunbrella® suggests this procedure.

  • Brush off loose dirt.
  • Hose down.
  • Prepare a cleaning solution of water and mild soap such as Ivory Snow, Dreft or Woolite (no detergents).
  • Use a soft bristle brush to clean.
  • Allow cleaning solution to soak into the fabric.
  • Rinse thoroughly until all soap residue is removed.
  • Air dry.

Depending on the age of the fabric, this light clean may not require a re-treatment of the fabric to replace the fluorocarbon finish.  Your Resort Cabanas customer care contact can help you decide.

Heavy Cleaning

Sunbrella® fabrics, the most common fabrics used in our commercial cabanas, is highly resistant to mildew and stains.  However, mildew can grow on dirt and debris that isn’t washed away with regular maintenance rinsing, and this can result in the need for a heavy cleaning.

For a heavy cleaning, Sunbrella® suggests this procedure.

  • Eight ounces (1 cup) of chlorine bleach.
  • Two ounces (1/4 cup) of mild soap and/or detergent.
  • One gallon of water.
  • Clean with soft bristle brush.
  • Allow mixture to soak into fabric for up to 15 minutes.
  • Rinse thoroughly until all soap residue is removed.
  • Air dry.
  • Repeat if necessary.
  • Re-treatment of fabric for water and stain resistance will be necessary. Sunbrella® suggests using 303 High Tech Fabric Guard.

Whenever using bleach, it’s important to consider the surrounding space, materials, and fabrics.  For example, carpet and furniture that isn’t made with Sunbrella® fabric may get damaged with exposure to bleach, regardless of how diluted it may be.
