What is a Cabana?

cabana or cabaña is a temporary or permanent free standing shade structure with traversing curtains, decorative drapes and/or solid walls. Cabanas are fabricated from a variety of materials and in sizes ranging from 4ft x 4ft dressing rooms, up to 40ft x 80ft hospitality suites, although the more common sizes are 8 x8 or 10 x 10.

Cabana frames are made of standard steel with a polyester powder coat paint finish. Top covers, side walls and/or traversing curtains are made of exterior grade fabrics. Custom cabanas may include accessories such as electrical wiring, ceiling fans, television mounts, partitions, dressing rooms and air vents.

What's the difference between Resort Cabanas VS. cabanas from retail outlets?

Resort Cabanas are custom commercial-grade cabanas intended for use at hotels, resorts, spas, beach resorts, restaurants, golf courses or high-end residential applications. Retail outlet units are generally imported from overseas and fabricated with low-grade materials.

What's the difference between the cabanas posted on this website?

Each cabana design varies from one to another by frame and fabric construction, available sizes, engineering, features and custom options.

What's the difference between Engineered and Non-Engineered Cabanas?

All cabana products posted online are fabricated with steel-framed construction for strength and durability. The framework for “Engineered” cabanas are structurally designed and approved for wind-loads between 60 to 180MPH. “Non-Engineered” units are not approved for high wind-loads.

What is the CSI MasterFormat Number for Cabanas?

Cabanas are classified as CSI MasterFormat:

  • Division 10 – 107316 Canopies
  • Division 13 – 133133 Framed Fabric Structures

Do the cabanas have a warranty?

Yes. The Sunbrella® ( 10 years), FIRESIST® (5 years) and Sattler® Awning fabric covers carries a limited manufacturer’s warranty. The cabana frames carry a one (1) year warranty.

Eide Industries, Inc. DBA Resort Cabanas warrants its products for a period of one (1) year from the date of original product manufacture.* Certain fabrics, materials, and other components used in the fabrication of Eide Industries’ products may carry warranties and prorated warranties of differing lengths provided by their manufacturer(s). Are the cabanas water-proof?

Sunbrella, FIRESIST and Sattler fabrics are water-repellent (not water-proof). This means that during the finishing process a water repellent finish is applied to the fabric. Normal wear and usage will reduce the effectiveness of this finish as will cleaning the fabric. Water repellent treatment can be applied to material to renew the repellency.

Are the cabana covers fire-proof?

FIRESIST® is inherently flame retardant, passing the following flame retardant requirements:

  • California State Fire Marshal Title 19.
  • Section 13115. Registration #F-36805.
  • Section 1237. Test Procedure #801.
  • NFPA 701-99 Test Method 2.
  • CPAI-84: Tent walls and roof.
  • UFAC Upholstered Furniture. Class 1.
  • Outside North America: Consult Glen Raven for Specifications.

FIRESIST yarn uses state-of-the-art technology to produce fiber that is engineered for exterior applications and formulated to be inherently fire retardant. Since fire protection is an inherent attribute of the fabric, it will not leach or wash out during the life of the fabric.

FIRESIST is a registered trademark of Glen Raven, Inc.

Do you use furniture grade fabric?

Yes, Sunbrella® and Sattler® Furniture Grade fabrics are available upon request.

However, for the greatest protection, strength and outdoor durability we recommend using  Awning/Marine Grade Fabrics which carry a limited ten (10) year manufacturer’s warranty.

Furniture Grade materials are primarily intended for use on patio furniture (cushions, pillows, umbrellas, etc.) and only carry a limited five (5) year manufacturer’s warranty.
