The Durability and Performance of Your Commercial Cabanas

It’s true that purchasing commercial cabanas for your property is an investment, but when you choose a reputable manufacturer who creates top-quality products, it’s an investment that will continue to produce results for years to come.  However, it’s important to recognize that there’s a major difference between commercial cabanas and their residential counterparts.

At Resort Cabanas, we spend our days working with some of the most prestigious properties across the country – designing and manufacturing commercial cabanas that are made to stand the test of time (and of constant use).  Again and again, we hear our customers asking similar questions about the fabrics we use and why we use them.  So, we thought we’d take a moment to explore some of our Fabric FAQs – because we believe in our products and we want you to as well!

Which Fabric Brands Do You Use?

Traditionally, we work with Sunbrella®, FIRESIST®, or Sattler® fabrics because we believe they offer a superior balance between quality and price.  However, since we are a design-build manufacturer, we’re able to work with our clients’ preferred brands when requested.

Do You Use Furniture-Grade Fabrics?

We can use furniture-grade fabrics for our cabanas, but it’s not our first choice.  Furniture-grade fabrics are intended for cushions, pillows, and umbrellas, which don’t require the same level of performance as cabana covers.  Awning or marine-grade fabrics offer superior strength and durability for outdoor designs, so we believe it’s the better choice.

With the increasingly dramatic weather patterns that have been hitting many of our clients over the past years, we have a renewed commitment to ensuring our commercial cabanas stand up where others fall short.  However, we also recognize that every situation is different, so we’re happy to work with the fabric type that you prefer.

Are Commercial Cabanas Waterproof?

The awning and marine-grade fabrics we use most are water-repellent (not waterproof).  During the finishing process, a water-repellent coating is applied to the fabric – supporting superior protection for your guests even on those tropical, rainy days.

Over time and after regular cleaning and maintenance, this water-repellant finish may start to lose its effectiveness, but Fabric Guard treatments can easily be applied to renew the fabric’s repellency.

Are Commercial Cabanas Fire-Proof?

FIRESIST® fabrics by Glen Raven, Inc. are inherently flame retardant, and pass nearly all of the standard flame-retardant requirements and tests.  The yarn used in FIRESIST® is engineered to be resistant to flame, which is important because it means that fire protection is an inherent attribute of the fabric – not a coating or finish that will diminish over time.
